Dr. Azeem Fazwan Farouk obtained a B.A in political science from DePaul University and completed his M.A dan PhD in political science at University of Malaya. He is an associate professor and director at the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS) University Sains Malaysia (USM). He was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Asian and African Studies, Jumboldt University (Berlin), the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Northern Illinois University, and the Department of Social
Sciences, the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). His scholarly works have been published by leading academic journals such as Journal of Malaysian Studies, Akademika and Pertanika. He writes regularly for CenPRIS column that appears in the New Sunday Times. He has led and is leading research projects funded by the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Special Affairs Department of Ministry of Communication and Multimedia, Japan International and Cooperation Agency (JICA) Malaysia Office and the Centre for Civic Education (Civitas) Calabasas California, USA. As a lead researcher, his main aim was and is to translate the findings into workable solution that will empower communities.
