Dr. Drs. Haji Amran Suadi was born on 24 April 1954 in Belawan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. He is currently the Head of the Indonesia Supreme Court Religious Chamber. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sharia Law from Bandung Islamic Univerisity. He also holds two master’s degrees, a Master’s Degree in Management from Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi IPWI Jakarta, Indonesia (STIE IPWIJA) and a Master’s Degree in Sharia Law from University of Sumatra Utara (USU), Indonesia. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Sharia Law from University of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. On 7 October 2014, he was appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court. He has also served some important positions before, including Chief Judge of Medan Religious Court, Inspector of the Supreme Court at the Supervisory Body and Vice Chief Judge of the Religious High Court of Surabaya. He is also a well-known writer of Sharia Law books. His books on Sharia Law including Penyelesaian Sengketa Ekonomi Syariah: Penentuan dan Kaidah Hukum, Firasat Hukum: Refleksi Filsafat Pancasila, Hak Asasi Manusia dan Etika and Politik Hukum: Perspektif Hukum Perdata dan Pidana Islam Serta Ekonomi Islam.
