USAS has been organizing the World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT) since 2012.
WCIT has since been recognized as a brand name associated with USAS and has been gazetted as one of Perak’s state-events. The main purpose of the Conference is to provide a platform and avenue for regional and world leaders, scholars and intellectuals, professionals and the public to freely interact and articulate their thoughts in
a dynamic and rigorous intellectual environment that is conducive for the exchange of ideas, all for the purpose of addressing real and actual contemporary problems affecting the Muslim World.

WCIT2016 carried the theme of “Future World” with the hope of laying the foundations and guidelines for the Muslims to venture out and seek meanings to what truly constitutes as their future world.

In 2017, WCIT took upon “Global Peace” with the deliberate intention of seeking the notions of the conditions of peace, prosperity, and human decency for the world to come, our future world.

2018 saw WCIT taking on a new approach. WCIT2018 was intentionally conceived to be comparatively more practical, pragmatic, and programmatic in its approach to issues being discoursed rather than being purely theoretical, academic and rhetorical. That, it was hope, would enable us to translate all theories, academic idealism, and high-sounding rhetoric into real life works and activities, an approach that ensures long-term sustainability. The Conference of 2018, “Securing the Future” was intended to focus more on what it could offer in terms of real life experiences; takeaways that could be followed up with actual social programs of action for direct and immediate implementation.

WCIT2020 was originally planned and intended to maintain the existing trajectory of looking toward the future world by harmonizing WCIT2020-theme with previous themes of “Global Peace” and “Securing the Future”. For that purpose, “Sharing Our Humanity” was conceived as the main theme of WCIT2020. In 2020, our world and universe of life had been shocked, devastated, and shaken by the COVID-19 Pandemic to the core. No single individual, no single nation was spared. Our life was literally put on hold.

WCIT2020 had also to be put on a hiatus. 2022 marks a new beginning. Many nations have moved from the life-threatening pandemic to the lifereturning endemic phase. Along with this gradual return, WCIT is also making a come-back. For 2022, the Conference retains the theme of “Sharing Our Humanity”. This theme has ominously become even more
relevant and urgent than when it was first conceived in 2020
