National Integrity and Security
A nation’s geopolitics has typically been defined by its geopolitical strategies and policies. At the center of its consideration, geopolitics has always been about ensuring and serving the interests of a particular nation, sometimes even at the expense of the greater global interests, all
for the sake of its own national security. In a more interconnected and interdependent world, ongoing human crises have shown that considering a greater and broader global interest is becoming more important and necessary than the limiting, self-serving geopolitical interests. The argument goes that attaining the ultimate national security presupposes the prior establishment of global connectivity, cooperation, and security. The repercussions of the present Russia-Ukraine war and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are testaments to the need for global security and cooperation in attaining our individual national security.
The UN 2024 SDG Report has brought to us some sobering facts: only 17% of the listed SDGs are on track this far, almost half are “showing minimal or moderate progress”, and a third of them are either stalled or slowed down in their progress. The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, therefore argues that to bring our efforts on the SDGs back on track, we must have peace, solidarity, and will.
Global politics are therefore getting increasingly complex. It demands stronger political will and workable and enduring political conceptions and frameworks that see political objectives met. One of them is to ensure that progress towards the SDGs is back on track.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly advancing field of technology that has the potential to revolutionize many aspects of our lives. From healthcare to finance, transportation to education, AI has the potential to transform the way we live, work, and interact with each other.
Under this sub-theme, the Conference hopes that every Muslim nation will be able to stand up to the effectiveness and practicality of geopolitical and geoeconomic strategies in attaining and maintaining global peace and social harmony. The Muslim World has the duty and responsibility to ensure that every citizen under their political care and protection can sleep at night and look forward to and be assured of their safety. One way is to beef up on their military strength and capability, maintain national solidarity, and build their nations!
