
Prof. Odeh Al-Jayyousi is an internationally recognised scholar in innovation, sustainability, and public policy. With over three decades of experience spanning academia, international organisations, and public sector institutions, he has made significant contributions to advancing sustainable development, innovation systems, and environmental governance across the Middle East and beyond. Prior to his current appointment, Prof. Al-Jayyousi served as Vice-President for Science and Research at the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan and Regional Director for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), based in Switzerland. He has also held senior academic leadership positions, including Dean of Scientific Research and Dean of Research, while contributing to urban planning and economic development initiatives at the City of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a PhD and a Master of Science in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, United States, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Yarmouk University, Jordan. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and five books on sustainability, renewable energy, and innovation. His research interests include innovation policy and systems, sustainability and energy policy, higher education policy, water innovation, and smart and green cities.
