Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Salam Sejahtera, Salam Malaysia Madani and Salam Perak Sejahtera 2030.
It is with great honour and profound appreciation that I would like to welcome to all distinguished scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and participants to the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT2026). This esteemed gathering serves as a vital platform for intellectual engagement and meaningful dialogue, hence advancing the role of Islamic thought in addressing contemporary global challenges.
On behalf of the Perak State Government, we extend our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, for the gracious Royal Patronage of this conference series.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Where Everyone Matters: Pride and Unity in Islam,” resonates deeply with the universal values found in Islamic teachings. It emphasises the values of inclusivity, social justice, and collective responsibility, reminding us that unity, diversity and mutual respect form the Ummah’s strength. At a time when the world faces complex socio-political and economic uncertainties, this theme is both timely and necessary.
The discourse fosters trust, transparency, and ethical leadership. Equally, the need for sustainable economic and educational practices grounded in Islamic principles that promote equity and equality, innovation, and shared prosperity across communities to uplift individuals and transform societies. Moreover, it calls for a renewed commitment to stewardship (khalifah) of the Earth, ensuring that development does not come at the expense of faith, ecological balance and future generations.
I believe that WCIT2026 will generate impactful insights, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute actionable solutions rooted in Islamic values. May this conference inspire us further to building a just, harmonious, and resilient global community.
On that note, I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Azlan Shah University, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Wan Sabri bin Wan Yusof, and the WCIT2026 Committee for organizing the conference and etching another milestone in its series.
I wish everyone a great conference and enjoy your time here in Perak Darul Ridzuan.
Thank you.
