
Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin is an internationally renowned economist and development expert with more than 30 years of experience in global finance, economic policy, and sustainable development. He currently serves as the United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, leading international efforts to mobilise financing for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He previously served as the UN High-Level Climate Champion for Egypt, Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representing the Arab States and the Maldives, and Minister of Investment of Egypt from 2004 to 2010. Following his ministerial role, he joined the World Bank Group as Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations, and Partnerships, where he played a key role in advancing global development initiatives. He also chairs the Africa Chapter of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and was recognised as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005. An accomplished academic, Dr. Mohieldin is Professor of Economics and Finance at Cairo University and has held visiting professorships at leading universities across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States. He has authored numerous publications on economics, finance, and sustainable development, making significant contributions to international policy and research.
