On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT2026), I wish to express our deepest appreciation to DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, the Royal Patron of WCIT series, for His Royal Highness’s unwavering patronage and support. I also extend my sincere gratitude to YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia; YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education; YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, Menteri Besar of Perak; and the Perak State Government for their continued support in making this conference possible.
It is my great pleasure to welcome distinguished speakers, researchers, policymakers, and participants from around the world to WCIT2026. Your presence reflects our shared commitment to advancing meaningful dialogue and practical collaboration in addressing the pressing challenges facing the Muslim World and the global community. Since its establishment, WCIT has grown into a respected international platform that ensures knowledge extends beyond academia to benefit society. Guided by the Islamic principle of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin (Mercy to All Mankind), we believe that knowledge should transcend geographical, cultural, and disciplinary boundaries in pursuit of the common good.
This commitment begins within our own communities. At Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS), community engagement is not viewed as an adjunct to our academic mission but as an integral component of it. We are particularly committed to promoting inclusive development by ensuring that no community is left behind. In this regard, our collaboration with the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) reflects our determination to empower indigenous communities through education, capacity building, and sustainable development initiatives.
WCIT2026 also signifies USAS’s aspiration to strengthen its presence beyond the local sphere and contribute meaningfully at the regional and international levels through impactful research, strategic partnerships, and thought leadership. As a university under the Perak State Government, we are honoured to support the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030 by promoting sustainable development, social harmony, and inclusive prosperity.
I would also like to record my sincere appreciation to our sponsors, strategic partners, supporting agencies, distinguished speakers, presenters, volunteers, and members of the Organising Committee whose dedication has made WCIT2026 a reality.
