
Prof. Dr H. A. Hellyer (Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies)
Dr H. A. Hellyer is an internationally recognised expert in security, international affairs, and public policy with more than 20 years of experience spanning government, academia, and leading global think tanks. He currently serves as Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and Senior Fellow at the Centre for American Progress, having previously held senior research positions at the Brookings Institution and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Dr Hellyer formerly served as Deputy Convenor of the UK Government’s Taskforce on Radicalisation and held appointments within the UK Foreign Office. His academic affiliations include Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, and the American University in Cairo. He has authored ten books, published hundreds of articles, and led multinational research projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. His expertise is frequently sought by governments and international organisations, while his insights regularly appear in major media outlets including CNN, the BBC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Guardian. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS).
